My last ten advisory sessions through PLAYBOOK were all about women getting into tech. The sessions largely involved understanding the playbook to fundraising and also testing out ideas and products, when one has no funding to begin with.
I am both excited and pumped that women are excited to enter this space. It's about time seeing as only 4% of female founders get access to funding but more so, there is a huge complaint from accelerators and funds that they lack a pipeline of female start ups to endorse and get behind.
So here are my 5 steps to get into tech:
Find a mentor through our mentorship and advisory, 1:1 global resident mentorship program, book a call and get the needed advice
Pivoting from a traditional business to a tech one has its perks. You get to do things on scale, you can solve global problems using technology, the ecosystem is thriving with funding and access to mentors and advisors, now is a great time for you here in MENA to start, launch and test.
But be aware you need to do the work, the homework, and lay the foundation, much about this industry means unlearning what we already know about business and learning a whole new set of skills to thrive.
I am such an advocate for women getting into this space, if you want to book a mentorship call with me through the PLAYBOOK app, do let me know!
